The final section of the exhibition documents the unflagging enthusiasm for Leonardo's work exhibited by artists during the past four centuries. A selection of prints, drawings, ceramics, and paintings demonstrates with irreverence and humor the breadth and intensity of Leonardo's influence. This section shows how Leonardo's status as a legendary figure continued to evolve and grow after his death. It also examines how his imagery, particularly the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper, has been incorporated into modern culture and iconography. 20th-century artists represented include: Marcel Duchamp, Joseph Beuys, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, and Andy Warhol. | |
